ICC News: China's needle coke market was running steadily overall in July; some manufactures made mild adjustment to sale price of products compared to last month.
Specifically, on the production side, Kaifeng Carbon Anshan Thermo-Energy New Material Company's coal needle coke production was in normal state this month, with the output kept at 3,000-4,000 tons for the month and price prevailingly at 3,800-4,000 yuan/mt.
Production at Jinzhou Petrochemical was steady this month, with monthly production capacity currently kept at 2,500 tons and market price prevailingly at 3,500-3,600 yuan/mt; the company's supply for anode materials market has picked up amid dwindling demand on downstream carbon market; prices of green coke currently stand at 2,800-3,000 yuan/mt.
C-Chem (Jiangsu) Needle Coke Technology Company's 60kt coal needle coke project maintained production in small volumes; it has scheduled to halt production for maintenance next month, which is expected to last two months. Shanghai Baosteel Chemical's coal needle coke production was still on hold; pitch coke production that started late this month will continue into the next month; the company currently carries 1,500t needle coke stocks and make quotes for coal needle coke are currently at 3,500-3,600 yuan/mt.
Hongte Chemical's needle coke production was still at halt with no definite timetable for funds from the bank.
On overseas market, Japan's M-grade PCJ Petrocokes petroleum needle coke is $550/ton and that of X-grade is $650/ton.
Philips 66's HNP petroleum needle coke is $500/ton and that of HSP product is $550/ton ( which is ex-warehouse price in bonded area).
As for coal-based needle coke, price from C-Chem, Mitsubishi Chemical and PMC are all $500 per ton.
